Founder of ASBL here. PLR is great but hard for bioengineers to use. Read short below I wrote for my startup ASBL (not plugging my idea stage startup) but overarching idea of where I think Automated Synthetic Biology is heading (btw ASBL stands for Automated Synthetic Biology Labs).
My startup ASBL is biotechnology Terminal. I’ll explain with your article.
A “true” isothermal PCR method now exists, one that works on long DNA sequences. What can we do with it?
ASBL wants these applications on its biotech Terminal.
ASBLMP-app-1: isothermal_pcr(optional_amplicon)
ASBLMP-app-2: isothermal_pcr_enzyme(enzyme, optional_amplicon)
ASBLMP-app-3: methylation_by_amplicon(amplicon) {
gene_of_interest =amplicon
ASBLMP-app-1(DNA methyltransferase, gene_of_interest)
}
Biotechnology offers control on replication. Check out Mother Machine from Jun lab (https://jun.ucsd.edu/mother_machine.php). If PCR is used as both copy and copy-select operations in ASBL, Mother Machine is cell replicator microfluidic chip. Like processor ALU. Cell replication with control is valuable, and many parallel Mother Machines have a cell doubling frequency. Computers are measured in Hz. Cell doubling frequency is a biological CLK signal. Mother Machine, an ASBL program searching biotech protocol use. Just like PCR is gene replicator protocol.

ONITO (1st startup) is precision health software also selling precision medicines.
- design medicine on app
- source hard to find medicines (rn I source and distribute expensive meds across the world)
Eventual goal is precision medicines generics (CGT, precision antibodies, precision peptides, precision antimicrobials) for everyone. ASBL machines with ASBLMP (ASBL Machine Protocol) apps build wetware. ONITO globally distributes precision medicines, wetware or bioproducts.
For that, ONITO currently stores patient data of 70 patients across their whole lives. Vision is, patient data across a family, for a genealogy document highlighting real-life effects of uncommon variants, for whom data are currently unknown. Patient data for which autoimmune diseases are most likely, what cell and gene therapies are needed (Treg, CRISPR + gene_of_interest); a hitherto unseen distribution of precision medicines for rare and complex diseases.
Take my startups as examples to build your own. For example, Sonoma Biotherapeutics cell therapy I want on ASBL as an app (program) because it’s an interesting precision medicine for rheumatoid arthritis.
One distribution channel of medicines, primarily for biologics and generics, has been mass production in bioreactors or by organic chemistry. A different distribution channel is for precise production of precision medicines.
