Hi everyone,
A quick heads up that the nomenclature for all Hamilton tips has been updated in Pull Request #674: Update Hamilton TipRack Names:
This reflects a general move away from legacy OEM encryptions (“HTF”, “ST”, “LTF”, …) towards explicit, self-explaining nomenclature.
Information regarding all OEM-specific names is still retained in the docstrings of the tiprack definition functions; e.g.:
This is to facilitate exchange for users who might often switch between OEM-GUIs and PyLabRobot, or need OEM references for purchasing information.
For reference: the fully updated definitions can be found in pylabrobot/resources/hamilton/tip_racks.py.
Additionally, to make these definitions reusable we found it crucial to record exactly what catalogue/part numbers they are referring to and placed those into the docstring as well.
If you have old scripts running with the previous naming, deprecation warnings telling you what to replace your old tiprack name will appear during instantiation (i.e. most likely at the beginning of your script).
This post aims to help everyone to quickly get up to date with the new nomenclature by providing context on the forum in addition to the PR on the code repo ![]()
