Prep thread

just opened a PR for the world’s first interface to the Prep that doesn’t require the internal touch screen / computer, straight firmware.

i need help testing this on other people’s Preps

(by using this, you don’t need the internal Gigabyte computer and you can repurpose it to something else :))

This is amazing @rickwierenga !

I can’t wait to use our MLPrep programmatically for the first time.
It is a very powerful little machine but the lack of programmatic interface/dependency on manual tapping on the attached touchscreen made it completely unusable for us.

I will start testing this from today onwards and report any bugs I might find here and/or the GitHub PR.

What the Prep should have been…

  1. A lower barrier to entry for the technology. Not unlike some of the DIY 3D printers are a lower barrier to some of the larger industrial 3D printing machines.

  2. A lower barrier to entry on the Venus software. People can learn the basics on this then scale them to the larger platforms.

When I first saw this at a trade show I cannot describe how disappointed I was that they did not follow through on point #2.
