How to make packet usb/ftdi captures

  1. install https://www.wireshark.org
    a. make sure to click “install usbpcap” as this is unchecked by default. for everything else defaults should work
  2. open C:\Program Files\USBPcap, open the USBPcapCMD.exe
  3. select the interface that has your usb device (most computers actually only have one option)
  4. perform one operation in the oem software
    • doing one operation is easier to analyze because you know what does what. if you have many options things become more ambiguous
  5. go back to the cmd and press q to stop& save
  6. .pcap file will be in C:\Program Files\USBPcap
